Prof. Dr. phil. Sissel Guttormsen Schär Prof. Dr. phil. Sissel Guttormsen Schär studied philosophy, statistics and psychology at the University of Oslo, Norway. She was a scientific assistant at the Institute of Hygiene and Applied Physiology (IHA), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETHZ) from 1992 - 1997. Her doctoral thesis dealt with cognitive theory and the influence of the user interface on learning computerised tasks. Mrs. Guttormsen lead the research group Man Machine Interaction (MMI) from 1998 - 2005. MMI run interdisciplinary applied research within the fields of human factors & technology, e.g. interaction design, emotional design, communication technology and e-learning. She received the habilitation for the field cognitiv eregonomics at the ETHZ in 2004. The habilitation thesis covered her scientific work on multimedia didactics. Since 2005 Mrs. Guttormsen is professor for medical education and the director of the Institute of Medical Education at the University of Bern. Contact: sg [at] softresearch.ch ....... Dipl. Industrial Designer Peter Kancsar Peter Kancsar studied Industrial Design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Zurich, Switzerland. After his graduation he worked at the DesignLabor Bremerhaven, European Institute for System and Product Design. On his return to Zurich he co-founded an office for industrial design, where he works on projects for major European companies (Vitra, Swissair, Sedus) until now. Contact: pk [at] softresearch.ch ....... Dipl. Natw. Philippe Zimmermann Philippe Zimmermann studied Environmental Sciences at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland (1993-2000). He worked in the corporate IT-Departments of IBM and Siemens for several years before he co-founded a company for web application development. Since 2001 he works at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in the Man-Machine Interaction group where he also pursues his doctoral study. His current research interests include the measurement of affect in the context of HCI and affective reactions to design and designed objects. Contact: pz [at] softresearch.ch ....... Cand. phil. hist. Felix Schmitz Felix Schmitz is studying Media Psychology, Psychology of Sensation and Perception and Social Psychology at the University of Bern, Switzerland. In 2006 he was involved in the research project "m@l", in which he was responsible for the implementation and analysis of an evaluation of a web-based therapy tool. His current research interests include the influence of virtual weather on mood and behaviour.
